The people of Kogi State have been charged to look unto God and not man for help in this new year.

Bishop Theophilus Bako made the call in his message at the Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church district headquarters, during the 2022 Universal Week of prayer organised by the Lokoja Chapter of Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, in Lokoja.

Bishop Bako who spoke on the theme:” No More Shame” from Isaiah chapter 54v4 said shame is the tool used by the devil to fight God’s purpose in the lives of his people hence the need to focus on Christ in the new year.

The Clergyman also called for continuos prayers for God to change the nation’s narrative of widespread insecurity and economic downturn for the better this year

Earlier in a remark, the Coordinator, Lokoja LGA CAN , Pastor Babatunde John Oluwole said the Universal Week of Prayer was an annual programme at the beginning of every year meant to seek God’s intervention for a prosperous year.

Pastor Oluwole called for commitment on the part of Christians to be united in focus, purpose and oneness to achieve set goals as a Church.

Highlights of the programme was prayer for the nation, State and the church led by Canon James Ogunmola and presentation of trophy to the Catholic Secretariat of Nigeria, CSN for outstanding attendance in last year’s Universal Week of Prayer.
