Pensioners in Kogi State have been reassured of timely payment of thier pension and gratuity.
Director-General, Kogi State Pension Commission, Mrs Maryam Abedoh stated this in Lokoja at the celebration of National Pensioners Day
Mrs Abedoh said that Governor Yahaya Bello being a Pensioners’ friendly Chief Executive directed her to personally justify her appointment by putting smiles on the faces of all retirees in the State.
The DG explained that a lot of innovations have been embarked upon by her office noting that many pensioners with severe health challenges equally received help to access thier gratuities.
She however warned those acting as middle men to extort pensioners by promising to help them assess thier gratuities to stop the act as considerations is being given to all accordingly.
Mrs Maryam Abedoh said that the Senior Citizens are paid as at when due without delay promising to look into the grievances of the Local Government pensioners.
The DG said her office is at the point of digitalisation of pension in the State which she stressed would put an end to the challenges of missing documents, time wasted in sorting out files as well as details of what to be paid to individuals.
Earlier in her address, the State Head of Civil Service, Mrs Hannah Odiyo in a message to the occasion promised to equally give priority attention to all issues raised by the Pensioners’ to make thier retirement more productive.
Also in his address, the State Chairman, Nigeria Union of Pensioners, Clement Ohida expressed appreciation to Governor Yahaya Bello for regular monthly payment of pension to retirees and the release of 100 million naira for gratuities as well.
Mr Ohida however appealled for consideration for Local Government pensioners who are on percentage payment.
