Kogi State Government has flag off COVID-19 mass vaccination of it’s citizen in the State.

Flagging off the mass vaccination in Lokoja, the Executive Director, State Primary Health Care Development Agency, KSPHCDA, Doctor Yakubu said the campaign is an initiative of the Agency in collaboration with the State Government and partners to increase access and utilization of the vaccines in the country.

Doctor Yakubu who debunked all negative online reports and publications about the vaccines said it’s safe, effective and reduces the risk of severe illness

According to him the vaccines in circulation have been duely satisfied by the World Health Organization,WHO and NAFDAC as safe and effective against the COVID-19 pandemic.

He urged the people from age Eighteen and above to visit designated health centers to take the vaccines which he stressed is free.

The Executive Secretary disclosed that a total of 72,812, of people have been vaccinated in Kogi State for the first dose and 35, 647 for the second dose respectively.

In a message to the occasion, the State Commissioner for Health, Doctor Saka Haruna said government would continued to sustain the present state of COVID-19 free status.

Doctor Haruna said the vaccine has not come to replace other preventive measures which he urged the people to adhere to for a safe health status.

In his address and also official flag off of the vaccine, the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Umar Isah said the State has a good legislation on Health which enable it respond to health matters without delay.

In thier goodwill messages, the Nigeria Medical Association, NMA, World Health Organization, WHO, Challenge Parenthood Initiative, CPI, JNI, CAN, Medical and Health Workers of Nigeria, and representative of Northern Traditional Rulers, and Eje of Dekina Alhaji Usman Obaje all pledged thier support to the COVID-19 vaccination and appealed to the people to take the vaccination as a preventive measures.
