Police Arrest Ogun Teacher After 11-year Old Loses Eye In The Classroom.

Ogun State police has arrested Adeola Adeyemo, a 400-level student of Tai Solarin University of Education, for allegedly injuring an 11-year-old pupil, resulting in the loss of her right eye.

According to Police Public Relations Officer Omolola Odutola, the incident occurred when Adeyemo, holding a cane in the classroom, accidentally struck the pupil’s eye as students rushed toward her.

The injured pupil was immediately taken to the Federal Medical Centre, Abeokuta, where doctors surgically removed the eye.

Following the surgery, Adeyemo reportedly attempted suicide but was rescued and taken to the hospital, where she is now in stable condition.

She was subsequently arrested and is currently under police interrogation.

The incident, which occurred during preparations for an end-of-year party, has raised concerns about classroom safety and the use of disciplinary tools by educators.

Police investigations into the matter are ongoing, with calls for stricter regulations to ensure the safety of students in educational institutions.

The victim, Alao Idera, was a primary six student at Owiwi Nursery and Primary School in Obada Oko.
