Kogi State Government says it will commence the payment of promotion arrears to teachers by the first quarter next year.

The Exercise Chairman, Science Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission, STETCOM, Mrs Cook Cicela Enezoza disclosed this when speaking on the achievement of the Commission in the outgoing year.

Mrs Cook Enezoza said all arrangement to that effect as well as recruitment of additional teachers have concluded with an approval from Governor Yahaya Bello in his quest to reposition the sector.

On the recent performance of schools under the Commission in the just released WAEC results, the Executive Chairman said the feat was made possible by the support of the Governor, appointment of core science bases Principals as head of schools, effective monitoring and supervision of schools, prevention of examination malpractices and appropriate sanctions to schools found wanting.

According to her the Commission has equally put total embargo of inter service transfer of qualified teachers from STETCOM to other Ministries.

The Executive Chairman also commended the ingenuity and commitment of Teachers in schools under the Commission for the feat achieved so far assuring of a better working conditions and incentives in the coming year as well as the need for them to sustain the tempo.
