Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has arrested two suspects for selling adulterated premium motor spirit otherwise known as petrol.

Parading the suspects in Lokoja, the State Commandant, Ibrahim Suleiman Mafara said they were arrested based on complaints by motorists who purchased the products at Bomag filling station by Kaduna junction in Lokoja.

Mafara said the suspects would be arraign in court upon conclusion of investigation as the action constitute economic sabotage in the drive by the Federal Government to sanitize the petroleum sector.

Mafara said with the development, the Command has also contacted relevant agency to take further action on the filling station.

The State Commandant said the Rapid Response Squad and the Anti Vandal Squad of the Command have been placed on red alert across the State to check the activities of Vandals, marketers with adulterated petrol and criminals.

Speaking in an interview, one of the suspect, Ibrahim Ali, aged forty two from Ankpa in Kogi State said he was called by the Director of the filling station to ascertain the fault with the vehicle while the fuel attendant Sani Nuhu, aged twenty four said the PMS was discharged overnight and does not know how it became adulterated.

Usman Jibrin Mohammed who spoke on behalf of the affected transporters said they were on a journey from Bauchi to Lagos and stopped over to refuel thier vehicles when the incident occurred.

As at the time of filing this report, the Director of Bomag Filling Station is said to be on the run.
