Kogi State Government says it’s collaborating with security agencies to secure the waterways in the State .

State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Duro Omodara Rtd, stated this while speaking to journalists on the visit of participants of Course Six of the Naval War College, Calabar to the State.

Commander Omodara said when the water ways are secured, it’s potentials would be harnessed for the overall benefits of the people, the State and the country at large.

According to him, the dergging of Rivers Niger and Benue would enhance water transportation, boost socio- economic activities and improved revenue generation in Kogi State.

The Security Adviser disclosed that government was seeking partnership with private investors to actualise it’s plan of a secured waterways as well as have value in water transportation.

Lokoja, he stressed was critical in water transportation as adequate security on the waterways would lead to the exploration of the abundant tourism potentials in the State.

Earlier in a remark, the Commandant if the Naval War College, Rear Admiral S A. Akinwande said the Naval College was saddled with the responsibility of articulating the security architecture with a view to creating an enabling environment for safe utilization of the nation’s waterways.

In a paper presentation, State Head of Civil Service, Mrs Hannah Odiyo, delivered a paper on Kogi State Civil Service reforms under the present administration.
