Kogi State Government has restated it’s commitment to the quality of health care delivery across the State.

Commissioner for Health, Doctor Usman Zakari stated this while declaring open a four day training for health workers in Lokoja.

Doctor Zakari said the training sponsored by the world bank in collaboration with the State Government is to improve the quality of health care delivery and urged participants to take it seriously.

He said the State Government will rest on it’s oars at delivering quality care to it’s people.

Speaking, the State Desk Officers and Focal Person, Basic Health Care Provision Fund, Doctor Emmanuel Bola said the training was organised to boost the infrastructural and human capacity gap at the Primary Health Care Centers across Kogi State.

Doctor Bola said the programme being sponsored by the World Bank was meant to train the State Technical Team who in turn will mentor the technical officers at the PHC facilities across the State.

According to him, 79 participants are being engaged to train others at the Local Government Levels towards the enhancement of quality health delivery to the people.

The Federal Government he disclosed released one percent consolidated revenue to bridge the human and infrastructural capacity gap in one Primary Health Care in every political ward.

He commended the World Bank and the Federal Government for the initiatives assuring of the participants readiness to work towards achieving set goals.

Also speaking, the Programme Manager, State Emergency Maternal and Child Health Intervention Center, SEMCHIC, Doctor Hadiya Ismail Ahmad the basic essence of the training was for the trainers to train five officers at every health facilities under the basic health care fund.

Doctor Hadiya said renovation is ongoing at the PHC across the State as well as procurement of drugs to make health care affordable and accessible.

In a message to the occasion, the Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Agency, NPHCDA, Doctor Faisal Shaibu represented by member, Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group National Emergency Maternal and Health Intervention Center, Abuja, Doctor Tafida Mamman commended the Kogi State Government for standing up to improve the quality of health care delivery in the State.

He called on the Government to ensure the SEMCHIC center be established in the State to carry out it’s duties of implementing interventions from the the National Body.

The training with the focus on; Improving The Quality Of Care For Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, Adolescent, And Elderly Health Plus Nutrition, RMNCAEH+N, targeted at a sound health care for the people of Kogi State
