Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones has ordered the immediate closure of all Illegal Private Schools across the State.
The directive according to Mr Jones followed the non-compliance of the schools to the State Education Law 2020 regulating the establishment of private schools in the State..
In pursuance of the directive and the need for compliance with the State Education law, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Pastor Emmanuel Idenyi has closed down Abundant Life Academy, Felele in Lokoja metropolis for operating without valid approval.
Pastor Idenyi said the exercise will be extended to the entire twenty one Local Government Areas of the State as Government is poised to implement the law to the letter.
According to him, operating a school without valid licence was illegal and a criminal act which the government will no longer condone.
He described as unacceptable, a situation where people build shanty and call it school, saying the closed down school is below standard of the New Direction Administration of Governor Yahaya Bello.
The Permanent Secretary directed the Proprietor of the School to report at the Ministry on or before Thursday 4th November 2021.
It would recalled that the State Education Law 2020 was signed into law under the present administration with a view to sanitize the establishment according to standards of private schools in Kogi State.
The State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Mr Wemi Jones has vowed to clamp down on all unregistered private schools in the State as well as those operating beyond the required standards.
