Kogi State Government has been charged to provide an enabling environment for private schools to thrive in the State.

Chairman of the thirty-first graduation, speech and prize giving day of Baptist Nursery and Primary School, Mr. Onuche Oyibo made the call in Lokoja.

Mr Oyibo said the call became imperative in view of the security challenges and the need to provide a conducive teaching and learning environment for schools.

He said there was also the need for government to equally assist private schools with aids, grants as well as instructional materials.

In a paper presentation, the guest speaker, Mrs Victoria Olaleye appealed to government at all levels to give urgent attention to the increasing number of out of school children in the country to reverse the trend.

Mrs Olaleye enumerated some of the challenges confronting schools to include; failing economy, terrorism, kidnapping and its attendant consequences.

She charged the graduating pupils to be focused on their goals in life and have a right relationship with God.

In her speech, the Headteacher of the school, Mrs Oyinloye Temidayo urged parents to desist from the attitude of withdrawing thier children from primary five to secondary schools thereby denying them the privilege of completing their primary education.

Mrs Temidayo noted that the development affects the educational growth of the children in the nearest future.

Earlier, the Proprietor, Baptist Group of Schools, Reverend Theophilus Ajala said the institution is collaborating with the Nigeria Police Force to provide adequate and efficient security for the school.

Reverend Ajala assured parents that the School will continue to uphold its academic, moral and spiritual excellence which he stressed was second to none.

He commended the teachers for their commitment and diligence to work which has placed the institution on a high rating in the State.

Highlights of the occasion was a cultural display led by the assistant headboy, Joshua Oyenibi, News Casting by Olorunnibe Nifemi and Tebu Israel, speech by the immediate past headgirl, Chukwuma Marvelous and presentation of gifts to deserving pupils.

The School Headmistress, Mrs Oyinloye Temidayo
