A fourty two year old man, has been arrested and paraded in Lokoja by the State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, for rape and incest.

Parading the suspect, the NSCDC Commandant, Ahmad Ahmad Gandi said the arrest of the father allegedly raping the daughter was made possible by high intelligence operations in conjunction with some Non Governmental Organizations in the State.

He said the suspect who confessed to the crime will be charged to court for prosecution for the offence of incest and rape.

The Commandant expressed appreciation to the NGOs for thier partnership with the Command and assured of it’s readiness to rid the State of all criminal acts and crimes against humanity.

Speaking on the matter, State Chairman of Kogi NGOs Network, KONGONET, Ambassador Idris Ozovehe Muraina said the case of the father in question was brought to his attention by the State Coordinator, Islamic Center for Communication and Creative Technology, Abdulrasaq Ibrahim which prompted immediate investigation into the matter with the help of NSCDC.

The Chairman said the Culprit will be prosecuted under the the State Violence Against Person’s and Prohibition law to serve as detterent to others

He commended the proactive steps of the State Command of Civil Defense which led to the arrest of the man.

Ambassador Muraina however appealed to the State Government and the International Community to assist NGOs with a “Safe Keep” house where victims of alleged rape, incest and the likes could be accommodated for safety.

In a remark, State Chairperson, International Federation of Women Lawyers, FIDA Lilian Okolo called on victims of abuse to speak out by approaching relevant NGOs and agencies for immediate help.

Also in an interview, Abdulrasaq Ibrahim, said he swung into action as soon as his attention was drawn to the issue.

Speaking the sixteen year old undergraduate said the father started having forceful canal knowledge of her three years ago and even engaged her in abortion within the period in question.

The man and father of the victim claimed to have carried out the act under an evil influence as the mother of the teenage girls left him and the children.

In a related development, the Command also paraded one Yakubu Abubakar, nineteen years old and Isihaku Suleiman for criminal conspiracy, armed robbery and attempted homicide having rob one Musa Zakari at kilometer eighteen, Ajaokuta in the State with one Hammed at large with dangerous weapons and dispossessed him of his motorcycle, two phones and large sum of money.
