In the bid to fulfil it’s constitutional mandate, the Kogi State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has embarked on monitoring exercise of the sales of premium motor spirit, PMS, in petrol stations in Lokoja metropolis.

The Anti-Vandal unit of the Corps, led by the State Commandant, Suleiman Ibrahim Mafara, visited several filling stations including, AYM Shafa along Ganaja road, NIPPCO along Lokongoma phase one, Bumak by Kaduna junction, BOVAS along Felele highway among others to check compliance to official pump price and avoid hoarding by marketers as well as selling of adulterated PMS.

Speaking to journalists after the exercise, Commandant Mafara said the Corps was carrying out it’s mandate as enshrined in the constitution and obeying the directive of the Commandant-General, Doctor Ahmed Abubakar Audi to ensure that the people are not exploited by marketers while the scarcity last.

He warned fuel marketers against hoarding, selling adulterated PMS and avoid selling in Jerry cans to black marketers as violators would be arrested and prosecuted.

According to him, the exercise will be continuous until the situation improves significantly, urging buyers to be orderly and patient while purchasing the product at various filling stations.

Some of the buyers at the various filling stations visited expressed appreciation to the State Commandant for leading his team to make sure the products are gotten at the official pump price.

Jeremiah Abalaka and Mrs Ezeyiaku Ifeoma however appealed to the NSCDC Commandant to lead his team to check some other filling stations who are hoarding the products.

It would be recalled that the Command arrested the fuel attendant and engineer of Bumak Filling Station by Kaduna junction in Lokoja on Wednesday for selling adulterated PMS.
