Kano Govt Distributes 450 Bags Of Rice To Journalists For Ramadan.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano State has distributed more than 450 bags of 25kg rice to journalist associations in the state in recognition of their role in societal development.

The event, held at the Kano Press Centre on Saturday, was overseen by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, and the Commissioner for Information, Comrade Abdullahi Wayya.

Beneficiaries include; key media organizations such as the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), National Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union of Nigeria (RATTAWU), and the Forum of Media House Managers, among others.

Governor Yusuf’s gesture aims to support journalists during Ramadan, ensuring they can continue their work with ease.

Sulaiman Abdullahi Bederi, the Chairman of NUJ, Kano, praised the initiative, calling it “the first time such a gesture has been extended to all categories of media in the state.

“This initiative underscores the governor’s commitment to media welfare and strengthens the relationship between the government and the press, highlighting the role of journalists in promoting transparency and accountability.
