
Sons and daughters of Iyamoye in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State both at home and diaspora have called upon to be actively involved in the development of the community.
The Chairman, Lokoja Branch of Iyamoye Development Union, IDU, Mallam Wasiu Momoh made the call at the end of the year get together in Lokoja.
Mallam Wasiu said the need for indigenes of the area to be involved in community development cannot be overemphasized to complement Government’s effort in the area of providing infrastructural facilities in the nook and cranny of the State.
He attributed his success over the years to God’s benevolence and the team spirit of the branch executive who gave him the needed support at all times.
According to him, the occasion also afford the Union the opportunity of thanking God for preservation of life of all and sundry from the Iyamoye Community in spite of some painful deaths recorded in the course of the year.
The branch Chairman appealed to the Government to come to the aid of the Community in it’s quest to take it to an enviable heights.
In a brief history of the Community, Mr Obagbemi Emmanuel Adebayo talked about various self help projects embarked upon by the people of Iyamoye which has led it to the present status of development.
In a thier separate messages to the occasion, the APC and PDP aspirants for Ijumu Constituency for that State House of Assembly, Omotayo Adeleye Isaiah and Tunde Olupeka both expressed their readiness to assist the Community at all times.
Highlights of the programme was an award presentation to the former Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Women and Children, Omotayo Adeleye Isaiah for good representation as well as Ifedapo group dance performance and a minute silence in honour of late Hussein Idowu.
