The Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Kogi State Chapter, has urged governments, organizations, and individuals to accelerate action towards achieving gender equality.
In a statement to mark International Women’s Day, NAWOJ Chairperson, Comrade Edoka Stella, emphasized the need for swift and decisive steps to address the lingering challenges faced by women and girls.
“This year’s theme, ‘Accelerate Action,’ underscores the urgency of promoting women’s leadership, addressing gender-based violence, and ensuring equal access to education, healthcare, and economic opportunities,” Comrade Stella said.
Despite progress made, women and girls continue to face discrimination, violence, and marginalization in various aspects of life. NAWOJ is committed to advocating for policies and practices that promote gender equality and empower women to reach their full potential.
“Let us work together to create a world where women and girls have equal rights, opportunities, and freedoms. A world where they can thrive, contribute, and reach their full potential,” Comrade Stella added.
