INTER SCHOOL COMPETITION SOON TO COMMENCE ACROSS THE TWENTY ONE LOCAL GOVERNMENT IN KOGI STATE

Sports has been described as a veritable tool that creates a platform for the development of the mind and skills of children and youths by making them more productive.

Kogi State Commissioner for Youths and Sports Development, Hon. Aridaojo Monday Anyebe stated this in a message to the third inter-house Sports competition of Confluence International Academy in Lokoja

Represented by Director of Sports Development in the Ministry, Mr. David Ogazuma, he noted that engaging in sporting activities not only sharpens the mind but takes children and youths off the street.

The Commissioner advised the students to always deliver their best as long as sports is concerned and take their academics seriously, noting that engaging in sports does not deprive them from becoming professionals in other fields.

Hon.Anyebe reiterated the present administration’s commitment towards revitalizing the sporting industry in the State through various interventions as well as identification of talents.

While commending the Proprietor of the school and his team for the seamless event, the Commissioner advised the students to play the game in the spirit of fair play, pointing out that they are all winners.

He also disclosed that inter school athletics competition will soon kick off in schools across the 21 Local Government Areas of the State.

Chairman of the Academy, Dr. Gabriel Reuben Jigah who thanked God for the success of the event, commended all stakeholders who made it possible.

Dr. Jigah who expressed delight in the competitive drive among the competing students explained that if they continue with the zeal and hunger for success, greater height awaits them in the nearest future.

He appealed to Kogi State Government to support sports development through provision of equipment and facilities, adding that the students are indigenes of the State.

Meanwhile, Kogi State Sports Commissioner was presented with an award of excellence for his drive towards promoting sports development especially at the grassroot.

At the end of the event, green and red houses emerged first and second runner up respectively while blue house emerged overall winners of the 2025 Confluence International Academy Inter-house sports Competition.

Highlights of the event was short distance race competition between parents and with the pupils putting up electrifying choreography that thrilled the crowd.
