Cover 2023 Elections with Utmost Sense of Professional Responsibilities- The Publisher, Nigeria Post Newspaper Urges Media Practitioners.

Media Practitioners have been charged to be professional in thier reportage towards 2023 general elections.

Publisher of the Nigeria Post Newspaper, Comrade Abu Micheal gave the charge in Lokoja at a live programme on Radio Nigeria, Prime FM on the: “The Role of Media in Ensuring Peaceful And Violent Free Elections, A Conflict And Gender Sensitive Approach To Election Reporting”.

Comrade Abu said the media should be impartial in their coverage of activities as well as avoid hate speech and unverified information.

According to him, misinformation, rumour, hate speech and false propaganda are factors that do instigate violence in any election which the media is expected to debunked and be fair and transparent in its coverage.

The Publisher also called for sensitivity by Media professionals on languages to be used in the course of next year general elections and a violence free elections is a collective responsibility of all.

Comrade Michael Abu said the need also for the media to be gender sensitive and address women with respect and dignity during the election should be ignored.

While urging the media as the fourth estate of the realm to be the link between voters to get credible information and updates on electoral process tasked the media to cover the election with utmost sense of responsibility and professionalism it deserves.
