The former Kogi West Senator, Dino Melaye, on Sunday won the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship ticket for Kogi State.  

Sen. Dink polled 313 votes to defeat his closest rival, Idoko Ilonah, who garner 124 votes in the primary election held in Lokoja, the state capital.  

Former Deputy Governor Yomi Awoniyi Sunday and Musa Wada got 77 votes and 56 votes.

Announcing the result, former Kaduna State Governor, Sen. Ahmed Maikarfi declared Send. Melaye as winner of the Kogi State Governorship Primary election.
