The re-introduction of History subject in schools nationwide has been described as a right step towards national cohesion.

The Executive Chairman, Kogi State Science Technical Education and Teaching Service Commission STETSCOM, Mrs Cecilia Enezoza Cook stated this while speaking on the development as declared by the Federal Government.

Mrs Cook said the development would go a long way at teaching students about the bond of unity and oneness that brought the nation founding fathers together towards national development and commended the Federal Government for taking the initiative.

She said the re-introduction should also be extended to primary schools as the first responders of education as well as make it compulsory across stages of education.

According to her, Kogi State Government has commenced the teaching of History in Schools to sustain the existing unity, peace and oneness in the State.

The Executive Chairman called on all Principals of schools to make sure the State Government policy in that respect was implemented to the letter.

On the Commission’s plan for Teachers in the new year, Mrs Cook said their welfare is being given high priority as the payment of arrears of promotions and other emonulment will be paid soon.

She called for their continued support as efforts are equally on to complete the recent recruitment to fill existing gaps in secondary schools across the State.

The seeming delay in the release of names of those screened for employment is for thoroughness and not a scam as being specified in certain quarters.
