The Federal Ministry of Women Affairs says the Police has arrested a legal practitioner, Adachukwu Okafor after subjecting her 10-year-old housemaid to a severe body harm, using a hot iron and a kitchen knife.

The Minister, Mrs. Uju Kennedy Ohanenye offered a reward of two million naira which lead to her arrest.

According to a statement by the Special Assistant on Media, to the Minister, Ohaeri Osondu, the arrest took place in Onitsha, Anambra State.

“In response to a viral video circulating on social media alleging that Okafor had been evading authorities prior to her arrest” he stated.

”The lady has been on the run for weeks after being reported to have inflicted severe injuries on the minor which prompted the Minister to offer a reward of N2 million for any member of the public who can come forward with information on her whereabouts. Osondu noted.

The Ministry, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, is initiating an immediate investigation into the incident, while the victim receives medical treatment in the hospital.
