Kogi NAWOJ Calls For Reintroduction Of Monthly Sanitation, Commended GYB For Appointment Of Women Into Positions.

Kogi State Chapter of the National Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, has called on the State Government to reintroduce the monthly sanitation exercise towards the overall well being of its citizens.

The call was contained in a communique signed by the State Chairperson, Stella Edoka issued after its Congress held on the 10th of January 2024 you in Lokoja.

It said the reintroduction of the monthly sanitation would bring sanity to bear in making the State capital clean with its health attendant benefits.

According to the Association there is also the need for Government to put measures in place to check incessant influx of destitutes and dumping of beggars into Lokoja, the State Capital from other States.

NAWOJ also condemns the killing of Meimunat Opaluwa Sanni the 75-year-old elder sister of the Attah lgala HRM, Matthew Opaluwa who was set ablaze alongside her daughter and granddaughter and called on government and security agencies to bring the perpetrators to Justice.

The Association congratulates Kogi State Governor-Elect, His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, and the Deputy Governor-Elect, His Excellency, Comrade Joel Oyibo on their victory at the polls and urged the duo to toe the line of Alhaji Yahaya Bello as regards appointment of women into significant positions.

It equally commended His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, the Governor of Kogi State for encouraging women’s participation in governance through the recent appointments of Hajia Habibat Oyiza Tijjani as the State Accountant General and Hon Rosemary Ohiezu as Ogori/Mangogo Local Government Caretaker Chairperson.
