A Federal High Court in Abuja has summoned the Director General of the Department of State Services (DSS), Adeola Oluwatosin Ajayi, for alleged contempt regarding the detention of Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader Nnamdi Kanu.
The Court order, dated October 24, 2024, requires Ajayi to explain why he should not face committal for failing to comply with a directive allowing Kanu’s lawyers three visitation days weekly to prepare his defense.
The order was served to the Attorney General, Lateef Fagbemi (SAN), and federal prosecution counsel, Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN).
This followed a recent incident where Kanu’s legal team, led by Aloy Ejimakor, was denied access to him.
