The need for the people of Kogi State to continue to adhere to guidelines by health experts in the post COVID Nineteen era has again been stressed.

The State Project Coordinator, Center for Information Technology and Development, CITAD, Comrade Yemi Balogun made the call at the impact sharing of the equitable recovery project on COVID Nineteen held in Lokoja.

Comrade Balogun said the assessment round table discussion became imperative to further strengthened the measures during and in the post COVID Nineteen era.

According to her, the program also aim at evaluating the progress, challenges and opportunities regarding vaccine acceptance in Kogi State.

” As we all know, the COVID-19 pandemic has changed our lives in unprecedented ways, and experts have maintained that vaccination is the most effective strategy to combat this deadly virus. To this end, we have organized this roundtable for vaccine champions which comprises the vaccine Field Mobilisers, Social Media Influencers and the Media partners in Kogi State on the COVID-19 vaccine uptake” she stressed.

The Project Coordinator who commended the media for thier roles during the pandemic as well as relevant stakeholders said the utmost priority and success during the era also include; the circulation of educational materials across the 21 Local Government Areas posted on Social Media platforms, physical mobilisation of people for vaccination amongst others.

Comrade Yemi Balogun expressed appreciation to CITAD, in collaboration with Mc Arthur Foundation for thier continued support that make the project a reality.

In their contributions and recommendations, stakeholders in attendance called for the need for more testing centers in Kogi State even in the post COVID Nineteen era, the need for a data bank, continuous engagement with the people especially at the grassroots level and sustained media campaign and messages.
