After about one month of steady power supply in most parts of Lokoja, the Kogi State capital and its environs by Abuja Electricity Distribution Company, AEDC, that earned the company accolades from electricity consumers, some parts of the town have been thrown into darkness again for hours running as at Sunday evening.

It was gathered that areas affected include Ganaja, Gadumo, part of Murtala Mohammed way among others.

Confirming the situation in a statement on Sunday evening, AEDC management attributed the development to some technical challenges.

“We have a breakdown of our switching equipment at Zango.

“This is the cause of the present outage we are experiencing in some parts of Lokoja and it’s environs.

“We are trying to connect through an alternate source but the rain is hindering our efforts due to the wet nature.

“We would try to restore electricity as soon as the weather improves and it is conducive and safe enough for the operation”
