The National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, has presented 341 tons worth of grains to the Kogi State Government as part of efforts to cushion the high cost of living.

The grains presented include; 3002 (50kg), 1,978 bags of Sorghum, and 3,640 bags of garri were handed over by the the representative of NEMA DG, Director in charge of ICT, Alhaji Sani Lokoja to the State Government.

Alhaji Sani Lokoja said the Federal Government through NEMA is saddled with the responsibility of assisting vulnerable persons and States through relief interventions.

According to him, Kogi State Government will equally receive tranche of food and non food items in the coming days.

Receiving the items, Governor Yahaya Bello represented by his Deputy and Chairman Steering Committee of the State Emergency Management Agency, SEMA, Chief Edward Onoja expressed appreciation to President Muhammadu Buhari for approving the release of 12,000 metric tonnes of grains from the National Strategic Reserve Stick for distribution to States and the FCT.

Chief Onoja said the receipt of the assorted grains will go a long way in ameliorating the sufferings of most vulnerable persons in the State.

He equally thanked the President for directing the Minister of Water Resources to lead and coordinate with the Ministries of Environment and Transportation to develop a Comprehensive Plan of Action for Preventing Flood Disasters in the country.

While assuring of the judicious distribution of the the relief materials to the targeted persons also urged States to make valuable inputs into Government’s Action Plan for national development.

Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Folashade Arike Ayoade, Chief of Staff to the Governor, Pharmacist Abdulkareem Asuku, Deputy Chief of Staff, Mr Sunday Faleke and other top Government functionaries attended the programme.
