Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello says his administration is irrevocably committed to the welfare of Ex-Servicemen and security officers in the State.

Governor Bello stated this in Lokoja at the launching of Emblem for Year 2023 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Celebration.

He extolled the selfless services rendered by Ex-Servicemen to the Nation and the need to continually appreciate them.

According to him, he is committed to the welfare of security personnel as well supporting thier course at all times.

The Governor said that the determination by them to lay thier lives for the nation was the highest level of sacrifice for their fatherland.

Governor Bello called for support at all times to the family of fallen heroes, the living Ex-Servicemen as well as Serving Officers describing thier service and loyalty to the Country and humanity as unquantifiable.

He urged members of Nigeria Legion and serving officers to continue to support Government efforts at checking insecurity and make Kogi State safer for all.

In his remark, Kogi State Security Adviser, Retired Commander Jerry Omodara said the Emblem Launch was to create awareness and raise funds for retired Ex-Servicemen of the Nigerian Army.

Commander Omodara said the event also celebrate and appreciate serving men and officers, encouraging them that thier sacrifices will not be in vain.

He said Governor Yahaya Bello’s commitment to the welfare of members of Ex-Servicemen and serving officers in various security outfits in Kogi State is second to none and urged to sustain their support to achieve set goals.

Speaking, the Chairman, Nigeria Legion of Ex-Servicemen in the State, Warrant Officer David Salau expressed appreciation to the Governor for according priority to members of the Legion and promised thier unflinching support to the present administration in Kogi State.

The Launch of the Emblem is to honor fallen heroes who fought for the unity and peace of Nigeria in various capacity and equally signal the beginning of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day.

The programme is expected to be rounded up on the 15th of January, 2023 with wreath laying at the cenotaph.

Heads of various Security Agencies, NSCDC Commandant Oyinloye John Kayode, Government Functionaries, wives of fallen heroes, among others were present at the event.

Highlight of the event was the decoration of the Governor, Security Heads and some Government Functionaries as well as the donation of 20million Naira( for 2021, 2022) by the Governor to the Nigeria Legion of Ex-Servicemen in Kogi State.
