Lawmakers Rejects Bill Seeking More Seats For Women, Vote for Financial Autonomy for States Judiciary & Houses of Assemblies..

The House of Representatives has adopted the financial autonomy for State Houses of Assemblies and States Judiciary in the ongoing constitutional amendment process.

The lawmakers also voted for the financial independence of local government councils as well as compelling persons to obey the legislative summons.

The house similarly voted in favour of the bill seeking to empower states to generate power.

However, the bill seeking to provide additional seats for women in the legislature was rejected as 209 Lawmakers voted against the bill.

The bills seeking to grant presiding officers of the National Assembly pension and provide the procedure of removing presiding officers of the legislature were also voted against.
