Kogi State Government is to relocate businesses along the river embankment at Kpata market in Lokoja.

Governor Yahaya Bello stated this during an inspection tour of projects in the state capital.

Governor Bello, who addressed the owners of Yalo Food Restaurant at Kpata market, pointed out the need for the relocation of the business to allow the completion of the construction of the embankment.

He noted that the annual flood and over flowing of the river banks can only be controlled when the project was completed.

The Governor assured the owners of the restaurant and other businesses in Kpata that necessary compensation will be paid to facilitate their relocation to a new site for their business.

Spokesperson for Yalo Food Restaurant, Usman Salihu, appealed to government to review the compensation offered for the relocation of the business.

Earlier, the supervising Engineer of the contracting firm, Engineer Ahmed Muhammed explained that the project was ninety-five percent completed, stating that the only obstacle to the completion of the embankment project was the Yalo Food Restaurant.

Engineer Ahmed said once completed, the entire Kpata area will be decorated with flowers to beautify the environment.

The immediate past Commissioner of Works, Engineer Abubakar Ohere was among top government officials and political appointees that accompanied the Governor on the inspection.
