KOGI EXCO Approves Massive Recruitment of Teachers

Kogi State Government is to commence massive recruitment of teachers into both primary and secondary schools across the state.

This was part of resolutions reached at the end of the State Executive Council meeting held at the Government House, Lokoja.

Briefing newsmen at the end of the meeting, Kogi State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Wemi Jones explained that the measure was to bridge the manpower gaps in the education sector.

Mr Jones stated that priority would be given to qualified professional teachers who may have exited the service as well as those who are serving in the schools as PTA staff noting that teachers welfare would receive more attention.

He stressed that teachers in the state would now get full payment of their salaries as well as provision for housing among other benefits.

Also briefing newsmen, Chief Press Secretary, CPS to Kogi State Governor, Isah Muhammed Onogwu said council approved release of the sum of ₦713,716,997.91 million for expansion and reticulation of Okene waterworks.

Onogwu further noted that the water expansion and reticulation project across the central senatorial district had already commenced and would go a long way in addressing the water scarcity in the area.
