FG to Establish Vehicle Rest Park in Kogi as Union urges it to expedite Action on Ganaja Road.

The Federal Government has urged to expedite action on the completion of Ganaja road before the yuletide season.

Kogi State Secretary, National Union of Road Transport Workers, NURTW, Comrade Usman Teslim made the call while speaking on the activities of the Union in Lokoja.

Comrade Teslim said the call became imperative in view of the heavy vehicular movement along the route and the need to also fix the pot holes close to bridge end of Ganaja.

According to him, the NURTW is in constant collaboration with stakeholders in the transportation sector as well as security agencies to reduce the rate of road crashes and equally safeguard the lives of passengers.

The State Secretary said that the Union is set to roll out a Customer Care line for complaints and suggestions from the public within it’s working hours of Seven in the morning to Six in the evening.

Comrade Teslim reiterated the directive of the NURTW to member to avoid night journey in view of the risk associated with it with an internal mechanism put in place to check erring members of the Union.

He also disclosed plans by the Federal Government to establish a Vehicle Rest Park in Lokoja to help drivers on distant journey to have a place of rest to improve safety on the nation’s highway

Comrade Teslim also commended the State Government on the ongoing Ganaja junction flyover as he noted when completed will ease the flow of traffic and reduce congestion calling on motorist to be patient with one another to ensure safety.
