The Zamfara State Government has distanced itself from the alleged turbaning of a Sarkin Fulani by the Emir of Birnin ‘Yandoto of Tsafe Local Government Area.

Governor Bello Mohammed Matawalle has since ordered the Emir’s immediate suspension.

Kabiru Sardauna, Secretary to the State Government, announced the suspension in a statement.

Aliyu Marafa was put on administrative leave after he turbaned Aleru as the Sarkin Fulani (Chief of Fulani) of the Yandoto Emirate.

The public’s reaction to the news of the turbaning ceremony was one of outrage and outcry.

Wanted Terrorist
Aliyu Marafa, the Emir of Yandoton Daji, made a wanted terrorist, Adamu Yankuzo, also known as Ada Aleru, the Sarkin Fulani of the emirate on Saturday. 

The decision to make Aleru a chief, who is notorious for his ruthlessness and was once declared wanted by the police, was confirmed at the well-attended ceremony.

Mr. Aleru is the suspected head of a terrorist militia that is active in different parts of Zamfara.

His group is believed to have been responsible for the deaths of hundreds of people.

The Emir was quoted to have said that he was turbaning Mr. Aleru to maintain peace in the region.

After being inaugurated, Aleru was said to have declared to a crowd of people who had gathered to watch the ceremony that he would do whatever it takes to protect the communities located within the emirate from being attacked.

Katsina State Police Command has earlier declared the Ado Aliero wanted.

Governor Bello Matawalle, however, approved the formation of a committee to investigate what led to the Emir’s decision.

The 6 man committee comprise Yahaya Goro who leads the panel while Musa Garba will serve as the secretary.

In the meantime, the district head of ‘Yandoto, Alhaji Mahe Garba Marafa, has been assigned by the State Government to take charge of the affairs of the Emirate.
