Twenty bodies were discovered during a raid on a shrine in Uzebu quarters, Benin, according to the police in Edo state.

At the crime scene, 15 mummified adult males, 3 mummified adult females, and 2 mummified children were also discovered.

According to a statement by spokesperson Jennifer Iwegbu, three people were arrested at the shrine.

She stated that an unspecified number of suspects evaded capture.

An intensive effort is ongoing to arrest the the fleeing suspects, she added.
